Celtic have already played an incredible 12 competitive matches, 9 of those coming in the month of August and it’s only September! The disappointment of not making the Champions league will linger on, but it’s up to the players to make the most of the challenge in their tough Europa League group.
Our writers have picked their player of the month, be sure to tweet us at @ReadCeltic or comment your August player of the month.

For me, it’s between two people for the player of the month award in August. I’m going with the player who has had more impact so far though and that’s Leigh Griffiths. He’s the only player to have featured in every game this season for Celtic partly because of Ciftci’s suspension.
The Scot hasn’t held back this season having scored right goals already with the next closest goal scorers for the Hoops are Bitton and Johansen on three. Griffiths as also had two assists, rightfully earning the number one striker status.
It’s unfortunate that his two goals against Malmo counted for nothing in the end due to some slack defending but we must look forward to nother year is Europe and hope for a domestic treble. Griffiths goals this season could go a long way to determining how successful we are this season.

In what has ultimately been a poor month for Celtic after failing to qualify for the Champions League, my player of the month for August is Tom Rogic. The Aussie had been frozen out of the first-team for two and a half years and his situation looked bleak when Celtic signed Stuart Armstrong and Gary Mackay-Steven. This seemed to only add to the growing list of players that were ahead of Rogic in the pecking order.
However, the 21-year-old has started the season superbly and forced his way into manager Ronny Deila’s plans for the season ahead after impressive pre-season performances and a blistering start to domestic action.

It’s hard to disregard how difficult a time the Australian has had in recent months, playing with the development squad and failing to get a look-in to the first team squad. But he has shown remarkable character to fight his way back into the side and earns my player of the month award.
