Celtic left-back Emilio Izaguirre played a starring role for Honduras as they swept aside Venezuela 3-0 in a friendly in South America.
Izaguirre, who is now in his sixth year in Glasgow, assisted one before lashing home a penalty to put the icing on the cake for the South Americans.
With Honduras already leading 1-0 thanks to a sensational strike from Erik Andino, 29-year-old Izaguirre whipped in a stunning cross which was beautifully guided home by the head of Roman Castillo, as the away side grabbed control of the friendly clash in Venezuela.
The left-back then grabbed the ball after they won a penalty after Andino was fouled inside the box with just seven minutes remaining, and there was no doubt as to who was taking it. The former Motagua star took a purposeful run-up and smashed his left-footed thunderbolt into the middle of the net to wrap up a good night’s work for his side.
Next up for Honduras is a difficult trip to Ecuador on Tuesday, as they play their second friendly match in four days.
