August was packed with games as Celtic went on the hunt for a place in the Champions League group stages. Celtic played nine games in the month of August and currently sit top of the league table with a crunch match next weekend against Aberdeen. A total of 19 goals were scored in August and we will pick the top three goals of the month.

Goal A Tom Rogic vs. Patrick Thistle
Rogic has had an impressive month and even got a mention in our August player of the month award article. The Australian burst back into Ronny Deila’s plans with a fine goal against Patrick Thistle. In his first start in almost two years, the Hoops midfielder showed his instinctive nature with a fantastic back-heeled finish on the volley.

Goal B Nir Bitton vs. Kilmarnock
The Israeli has a knack for scoring from distance and once again showed off his prowess from distance. Rogic gets another mention as his attacking intent to drive at defenders opened up the space for the shot. When he laid the ball off to Bitton, there was only one thing on his mind as he controlled the ball, took another to compose himself before firing a thunderous 30-yard shot into the top corner.

Goal C Leigh Griffiths vs. Malmo
This goal was the start of the rollercoaster ride of a first-leg tie against Malmo at Celtic Park. Just three minutes into the game Armstrong turned inside into space and drove at the Malmo defence laying it off to Johansen. The resulting pass from the Norwegian carved open the defence and put it on a plate for Griffiths who coolly put the ball past the ‘keeper.
