Three Celtic players were in action for their respective nations U-21 teams over the course of the international break. The opening round of the UEFA European Championship Under-21 qualifying is almost complete and here’s how each of the Hoops youngsters got on.
Jozo Simunovic captained a Croatian side that hammered Estonia 4-0 in their second group game in the qualifiers for the 2017 European Championship. They remain unbeaten in their qualifiers after beating Georgia 1-0 last Thursday (September 3rd). Croatia’s next opponent is San Marino which will take place on October 6th.

In Scotland’s opening game for the Under-21 European Championship qualification, Ryan Christie was in action for Scotland’s Under-21 side against Northern Ireland on Saturday. Celtic’s deadline day signing got on the score sheet in a 2-1 win. The next game for Scotland’s youngsters will be against France on October 10th at Pittodrie.
Saidy Janko was also in international action and played 59 minutes for Switzerland in their qualifying game for the UEFA Under-21 Championship. A late penalty gave them a narrow win over Kazakhstan in a group that will see them play Bosnia-Herzegovina on October 10th before facing England in November.
