Ahead of the biggest game of the league this season and the Europa League starting next week, this is not the news Celtic fans wanted to hear.
Skipper Scott Brown is still not 100% match fit, according to a report from the Glasgow Evening Times.
Brown picked up a hamstring injury against Qarabag in the second leg of the third qualifying round for the Champions League group stages.
The resulting injury led to the 30-year-old sitting out two league games against Partick Thistle and Kilmarnock. Brown came back into the squad for the crucial showdown against Malmo but didn’t look himself in the middle of the park for Celtic.
Deila now faces a dilemma ahead of this Saturday’s trip to Pittodrie and whether he should rest him for the journey to Amsterdam to face Ajax in the opening round of the Europa League group stages.
Strachan possibly knew of the problem as he substituted the Hoops captain midway through the second half against Germany.
The medical staff at Paradise are constantly monitoring Celtic captain who will be hoping to return to his best form on the field for the Bhoys.
If a one or two game break for Brown can make all the difference for the rest of the season, it might be in Celtic’s interest to rest him and avoid a long-term lay off.
