Earlier this week we rounded up the Celtic players performances on international duty, which included Jozo Simunovic.
Celtic’s deadline day signing was in action for Croatia’s Under-21 side and captained the side to a 4-0 win over Estonia.
His national side coasted to victory in their group opener for the 2017 European Championship, but not without setting an extraordinary record.
Simunovic is already breaking records as a Hoops player after being booked just EIGHT seconds into the game – the fastest yellow card in UEFA history.
The Hoops defender will be hoping for a similar result come Saturday and could even start against Aberdeen. However, he would be hoping to avoid an early booking in a key game for Celtic at Pittodrie.
At 21 years of age, there were question marks over the transfer fee, which, although undisclosed is believed to be in the region of £5 million.
He undoubtedly has experience even for his age having played nine times for Croatia’s Under-21 squad and 18 times in European competition for Dinamo Zagreb.
But it’s whether he has the leadership to take command of a shaky defence so far at Celtic this season. And the exit of Virgil van Dijk means someone will have to step up in his place.
Will it be Jozo Simunovic?
