Simunovic says Celtic have the best fans in the world

Jozo Simunovic had his first press conference as a Celtic player and is already showing off his mettle.

The 21-year-old Croatian signed for Celtic on the transfer deadline day and put on his new Hoops shirt for the first time since his move from Dinamo Zagreb.

Simunovic captained his country at Under-21 during last week’s international break and broke a UEFA record while on international duty.

Speaking to the media for the first time at Lennoxtown, Simunovic assured Celtic fans he isn’t bothered about his price tag, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

There is big money at stake, but I don’t feel much pressure.

I wanted the chance to play for Celtic – and I hope next year I will play in the Champions League with Celtic. I believe it. I always wanted to play in Britain. I like the style here. There is a very special way of playing.

The Croat also added that he is ready to face Aberdeen, should Deila call his name.

If the coach decided to put me in then I am ready. I am here to do my best in every single game. That is the only thing that matters. I am excited and ready to play right away.

Even though he is from Croatia, Simunovic does know a bit about the club and the Celtic fans.

I did know about Celtic. The club has a rich history. They play every year in either the Champions League or Europa League and they are the champions of Scotland. They have the best fans in the world.

Whilst at Dinamo Zagreb, the centre-back racked up 18 appearances in European competition – experience which will be vital for a youthful Hoops defence.

He has also made 52 league appearances and scored three goals since his debut in 2013 for Croatia’s dominant club team.
