Celtic kick-off their Europa League campaign tomorrow night against Ajax in Amsterdam.
Ronny Deila’s men will be looking to bounce back from the disappointment of Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Aberdeen and send a message to their other Group A opponents Fenerbahce and Molde.
Celtic
Utility man Charlie Mulgrew will not be part of the squad for the Hoops trip to Amsterdam after sustaining a thigh injury, which could keep him out for a few weeks.
That could pave the way for deadline day signing Jozo Simunovic to make his debut for Celtic. The Croatian didn’t play on Saturday as the game came too early for him, but it looks like he could come in to help shore up a shaky Celtic defence.
Simunovic could partner Boyata in the Celtic defence and Ambrose and summer signing Tyler Blackett also an option for Celtic.
Blackett could also play left-back as he did on Saturday, but Izaguirre is fit again after missing Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Aberdeen and will most likely start at left-back with Mikael Lustig and Saidy Janko the options for Deila at right-back.
Midfielders Scott Allan and Stuart Armstrong are both injured and didn’t make the trip to Amsterdam.
Ajax
Former Everton defender John Heitinga and striker Yaya Sanogo who is on loan from Arsenal will both miss out Thursday’s game. The Frenchman is still recovering from a groin problem whereas the Dutchman is not fit enough to make the 18-man squad.
Riechedly Bazoer is suspended for the game, but Mitchell Dijks has recovered from an injury and features in the squad.
