The recent visit of Andy Murray to Paradise to take part in several events at Celtic Park including a crossbar challenge was capped off today as his donated Hoops jersey raised £7,000 for charity.
Murray was preparing for the Davis Cup semi-final with Great Britain against Australia and took time out to visit Paradise.
Taking on Celtic players such as Stuart Armstrong and new Bhoy Simunovic as well as manager Ronny Deila. Along with his team-mates, the Scot missed out on a win after coach John Kennedy won the challenge in sudden death for Celtic.
He also donated a signed Celtic shirt during the visit and the resulting auction has raised £7,000 for the Celtic FC Foundation.
All the money raised will be used to assist those affected by the on-going refugee crisis through the foundation’s partnership with British Red Cross in Glasgow and, in particular, its Europe Refugee Crisis Appeal.
It was a perfect weekend all round in Glasgow as Celtic hit Dundee for six and the 2013 Wimbledon champion triumphed at the Emirates Arena not far from Celtic Park in three sets over Bernard Tomic. His victory over Tomic will see Team GB face Belgium in the Davis Cup final in November.
