McInnes comments and the hypocritical SMSM reporting

Celtic have the upper hand on every team in the league, but it’s not their fault.

Why?

Because they are the most successful club who continue to perform succeed and win. They represent Scotland in Europe and get their financial reward for that.

Derek McInnes comments yesterday prove the bitterness amongst other Scottish teams who can’t break the duck and be successful.

The monopoly of Celtic winning the league is because of their success. Not anyone helping them or being biased towards them.

Ironically, the mainstream media in Scotland set out an agenda against the most successful club in the country.

Reporting on McInnes comments seemed to be a nod in agreement that what he said was right. And they would be right. Any club with a larger budget and financial backing would succeed.

As quoted by the Scotsman, McInnes said:

I know he said they’ll win five in a row but any manager in our league would be confident in saying something like that given the level of finances Celtic have when the rest of us are working on budgets of between £1 million and £2 million and they’re working with around £20m.

But when Ronny Deila or anyone connected to Celtic uttered the same words, it was met with a backlash and criticism for not acting professionally and respecting your opponents.

To prove this here’s what Deila said as per the Scotsman and the reaction amongst the media to his comments.

Slaughter me if we don’t win the league.

Ronny said this because he knows Celtic will prevail in the end, regardless of what others think, it’s the truth.

In the same story, he was regarded as bullish for simply stating the obvious.

Surely McInnes is being bullish and throwing the toys out of the pram for complaining Celtic are in a better situation financially.

No one can compete with Celtic over a 38 game league campaign. Over 90 minutes, Celtic might be sloppy or have a bad game, which is why the cup games, in particular, have caused problems in the past.

Today’s performance highlighted this point further. We didn’t play overly well and should have scored in the first-half. The referring performance wasn’t immaculate either but it’s no excuse. Celtic had chances and didn’t take them today, whereas last week they scored six and could have had 10.

But we will still get there in the end. Aberdeen have lost two on the bounce now, are they in a crisis?

Over the course of a season, Celtic’s depth and quality shine through – as we will start to see in the coming months and especially in the Christmas period.

It’s just strange the mainstream media don’t take a swipe at McInnes in the same manner that they attack Celtic manager Ronny Deila for making the same point.

Oh well, many fans, including myself couldn’t give two monkeys any more.
