Celtic’s frustrating 0-0 draw yesterday with Hearts will only further their pursuit in signing free agent Carlton Cole.
Manager Ronny Deila watched on as his side created a host of chances in the first-half and also had 24 shots in the game, but just five on target and no goals.
The closest Celtic came was through the boot of James Forrest who saw his volleyed effort crash off the post and across the Hearts goalmouth.
In a frustrating afternoon for the Hoops, they failed to find the one goal that they needed to secure all three points and struggled to break down a resolute Hearts defence in the closing stages.
As quoted by Sky Sports after the game, Deila spoke of his frustration at the game.
I think disappointed is the wrong word. I’m irritated because our performance today was good, and you can’t create more than we did in the first-half.
I don’t think they had a chance in the whole game, apart from maybe at the end when we got the red card, and that wasn’t really a goal chance.
Slack finishing by Celtic in front of goal was their Achilles heel in the end after putting six past Dundee last weekend.
It also opens the door for a move to be made for former West Ham striker, Carlton Cole who has already trained with Celtic and impressed the Norwegian.
You need someone who has different skills than the players we have and Carlton has that, so we will see what happens there. That type of player is what we have been looking for.
