Celtic manager Ronny Deila has called for Celtic to not be wasteful in front of goal ahead of Thursday’s game against Fenerbahce.
His comments come off the back of a frustrating draw at Celtic Park against Hearts, which saw they close the gap slightly to league leaders Aberdeen but miss a chance to gain two more valuable points.
The closest Celtic came was through the right foot of James Forrest who saw his effort crash off the inside of the post and across the Jambos goal.
Commons, Rogic and striker Leigh Griffiths also had chances to get the one goal that Celtic needed to get all three points but couldn’t hit the back of Alexander’s net.
As quoted by the Irish News, Ronny Deila has insisted the same level of performance will not be good enough on Thursday night when Fenerbahce are in town.
We will not be okay because we didn’t score a goal.
A lot of things that we did will be good enough on Thursday. But we need to be more effective.
In Europe you get punished harder and you need to punish them when you get the chance.
Fenerbahce fell to Turkish rivals Besiktas in the Istanbul derby yesterday and will also be looking to bounce back quickly after their 3-2 defeat.
