These two great clubs and their long-standing friendship could pay dividends for the Hoops.
According to reports, Celtic are monitoring German and St Pauli striker Lennart Thy.
Having come through the Werder Bremen youth system, Thy moved to St. Pauli in 2012 from Bremen and has scored one goal and got one assist in 10 appearances this season.
The 23-year-old has represented Germany at Under-20 level, making eight appearances and scoring one goal.
Lennart is being linked to Celtic by in Hamburger Morgenpost in Germany, who claim Celtic are monitoring the situation of the German striker and could move for him.
He is under contract under June 2016 and will be available to speak to other clubs in January to agree a pre-contract agreement.
The Hoops could also play the waiting game and sign Lennart in the summer on a free transfer if no one else expresses an interest to rival Celtic.
Rumours that Celtic are interested in strikers will only continue to grow as they only have two recognised strikers in the current squad.
Carlton Cole is also a possibility for Celtic who is a free agent after being released by West Ham at the end of last season.
