Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has been handed a suspended two-game ban and a £2500 fine for singing an offensive song about Rudi Skacel.
Griffiths did admit to singing a song in an Edinburgh pub before Hibernian’s derby game with Hearts in March 2014. The words included that the Czech midfielder was a ‘f***ing refugee’.
The Hoops striker was also hit with a £2500 fine after pleading guilty earlier this month and ‘apologised unreservedly for the incident.
A Disciplinary Tribunal found that Griffiths breached disciplinary Rule 86 (for season 2013/14): Not acting in the best interests of Association Football by singing in public a song of an offensive and insulting nature, as per the SFA.
The two-game ban will be triggered if there is a further breach of Disciplinary Rule 77 before the end this season.
Griffiths has been in fine form this season for the Hoops, playing a role in all but one game this year against Raith Rovers. He is currently Celtic’s top goal scorer with 10 goals one of their best players so far this season.
