While it might not be any consolation for Celtic fans, Ronny Deila has come out and said Efe Ambrose is better than he was this time last year.
One calamitous error from a headed back pass and lack of concentration from a corner cost Celtic two goals and two points against Fenerbahce.
Celtic were the better side in the opening half, after goals from Leigh Griffiths and Kris Commons had Paradise rocking.
But it wasn’t to be, as substitute Fernandao pounced on Efe’s short back pass and beat the Nigerian to a corner kick that was whipped into him at the front post.
But despite this, Ronny Deila has given Efe Ambrose his full backing, as quoted by the Daily Express.
Efe – and I say this all the time to him – his biggest task is concentration. A year ago he was making more mistakes than he does now. He is much calmer on the ball and he doesn’t take so many risks.
Deila did say that if the same problems persist them there is a cause for concern, but many Celtic fans will disagree, saying it’s happened too many times already.
He has played a lot of games under me. If I see people develop, they have my confidence. But if they make the same mistakes over and over again, then we have issues.
