Celtic have sent scouts to Belgium to watch their fourth team in as many weeks, this time it was a game between Gent and Brugge.
The scouts watched on as Gent hammered Brugge 4-1 and according to the Voetbal Nieuws in Belgium, Fiorentina were also present.
As previous when reports emerged Celtic scouts were watching, Benfica it is unclear who they were scouting but they are clearly on the look-out across Europe for talent to sign in January after a frustrating summer transfer window.
Experienced midfielder Sven Kums impressed after scoring a hat-trick for the Belgian champions, however at 27, it is unlikely he would be on Celtic’s radar.
One possibility could be striker Laurent Depoitre who was also on the scoresheet for Gent on Sunday. The Belgian striker is 26 years old and has scored six goals in 10 appearances this season.
Belgium’s pool of top talent in recent years which has propelled them to second in the FIFA World Rankings. Names such as Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois have all come from Belgium.
Other names who Celtic fans will be very familiar with include Jason Denayer who spent last season on loan at the club and current starting centre-back Dedryck Boyata who all began their footballing careers in Belgium.
