Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton will miss tonight’s game against Belgium after picking up a one-match suspension in his previous outing.
Bitton put on a cameo performance against Cyprus scoring this cracking goal on Saturday night.
His long-range effort made his name bounce off every corner of the Internet, as people started taking note of the Hoops’ player.
As quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times, Israel coach Eli Guttman praised the 23-year-old afterwards, saying:
If all of the players were like Nir Bitton we’d be in good shape.
Nir could be come a real great in football. He has improved so much and is a fantastic talent.
His goal wasn’t enough for Israel however, who are on the cusp of missing out on the party in France next year. The currently sit in fourth place, one point of Bosnia and will need to overcome a Belgium side looking to win the group.
If Bitton wants to play any part in next summer’s European Championships in France, his team-mates, which include former Celtic player Beram Kayal, will need to win and hope Cyprus can hold the Bosnians.
Ronny Deila won’t be too bothered about his unexpected return to Glasgow, but one that he will welcome as Celtic face Motherwell in the early kick-off on Saturday, before making the trip to Norway to face Group A leaders Molde in the Europa League.
