Celtic are lining up a move for Northern Irish youth star Matthew Shevlin after Crystal Palace failed in their attempts to lure him to London from Ballymena United.
According to a report from the Ballymena Times, the 16-year-old is wanted by Celtic for a trial, however it clashes with his involvement in Ballymena’s involvement in the Antrim Shield against Crusaders next Thursday.
The interest stemmed from his impressive form for his underage side and a successful trial at Premier League side Crystal Palace last month.
From that, the London-based club made a formal offer for the Northern Irish Under-19 striker, but his club rejected their bid.
Huddersfield Town are also thought to be interested and reportedly submitted a bid for Shevlin.
No matter what club he eventually decides to sign for, the youngster will remain in Ballymena to complete the first year of his A-Level studies at Ballymena Academy.
Earlier this season, the pacey striker impressed those in attendance during the Sky Blues 6-1 win over Cliftonville.
He will be hoping to get back to winning ways against Dungannon Swifts later today and continue to catch the eye of an every growing list of clubs.
