The result was what Deila and Celtic fans wanted after Thursday night, and it seems people are better off after today’s 5-0 win.
Kieran Tierney, Kris Commons and Scott Brown all put in a fantastic performance, with two goals coming from Commons; one from Brown is the final minute as Griffiths and Boyata also got on the scoresheet.
The young left-back Tierney put in a brilliant performance in attack and didn’t have too many problems in defence today. He won Celtic the penalty for the third goal and put on a master-class display in front of the Hoops fans.
It was a completely one-sided contest, but Deila was still pleased with the performance and result as quoted by Celtic’s official website.
It was a very good performance. I’m proud of the boys. It’s always tough after playing in the Europa League on Thursday and getting into Sunday games.
We created a lot of chances, while they hardly had a shot on target. We scored five goals and there were a lot of good individual performances. We were also very compact, structured and disciplined for the whole game.
After the drama on Thursday night when Commons was substituted in Norway, it was a much better reception between the two this time when the 32-year-old came off with 25 minutes left. Deila and Commons clashed on Thursday, but this time they hugged it out when Commons was replaced by Tom Rogic.
He was good along with the team today and he scored two good goals, especially the second one.
That’s good, I like hugs. I’m happy for him and the whole team.
Deila also praised 18-year-old Kieran Tierney for his performance today and hailed the academy for developing such a talented player.
He was very good. It’s a big credit to the Celtic Youth Academy for bringing through a player like that.
He has a big future, only 18-years-old. He has a great attitude, hates getting beaten.
