Dedryck Boyata says that the next three games will make or break Celtic’s season, but is more than ready for the challenge.
Boyata scored in the victory over Dundee United at the weekend and claims that the matches against Hearts, Aberdeen and Molde will all be crucial to the rest of the season, for very different reasons.
The Belgian was happy with the 5-0 victory at the weekend, which has placed Celtic four points clear at the top of the table ahead of Aberdeen.
Having signed for Celtic from Manchester City in the summer, the 24-year-old has had a rollercoaster start to life at Celtic. From scoring against Qarabag in the Champions League qualifiers, to the disappointment of losing to Malmo and Molde last week, Boyata knows how difficult life at a big club is.
As quoted by the Daily Record, Boyata said:
This is a great club, a great team and you are always expected to do well in Europe and the cups.
This will be a really important week for us. Winning against Hearts would put us into the semi-finals and then we have a game against the second-placed team.
Dundee United was the first chapter and we have another two to come after that.
Then we have Molde the week after so there are always big games coming up. Our goals are to win these games and do as well as we possibly can.
Celtic have won nine of their 12 league games so far this season and a solitary defeat. The game with Aberdeen on Saturday afternoon could put Celtic miles clear of the opposition and open up a seven-point gap, or could pull the Dons within a point of first place.
Before that, the Hoops have a Scottish League Cup quarter-final clash against Hearts on Wednesday at Tynecastle to look forward to.
