Celtic face a nervous wait to discover the extent of Scott Brown’s knee injury, and the captain will undergo a scan after limping off during the warm-up last night at Tynecastle.
In the first-half, you could tell Celtic missed their leader and captain on the field, who picked up an injury during the warm-up at Tynecastle.
He is due to undergo a scan on his knee tomorrow where the full extent of the injury will hopefully become clear. At first look, it doesn’t look promising for this weekend against Aberdeen, but we have to wait for the results of the scan rather than speculating.
Brown will be particularly important against Molde next Thursday, when his leadership on the field will be paramount to Celtic’s overall performance.
Speaking to the media following the 2-1 win against Hearts, Celtic manager Ronny Deila said:
Scott felt something in his knee during the warm-up.
We will have to scan it tomorrow and then we can say what it is.
I don’t think it is serious. I hope it isn’t. But again, it is a knee and we have to wait for the scan.
It makes the performance even better that we played that way after losing our captain.
But we had an Israeli international (Nir Bitton) and a Norwegian international (Stefan Johansen) there, so we have good players coming into that position. Those two played very well.
Gary Mackay-Steven was on the substitutes bench before kick-off but withdrew from the team also after feeling stiff.
Gary Mackay-Steven was feeling stiffness in his groin.
He was going to be a sub, so we didn’t take any chances. He will be ready very quickly.
The draw for the semi-finals will take place a week on Monday (November 9, at 2.00pm) when Celtic will find out their opponents and could face Ross County, St Johnstone, and either Dundee United or Hibernian.
