At 15 years of age, Kieran Tierney witnessed what is arguably the greatest night at Celtic Park as a ball-boy.
It was, of course, the night Celtic beat Barcelona, with goals from Victor Wanyama and Tony Watt sending Paradise into mass hysteria.
Now, he has the chance to be witness greatness once again, only this time, he could have a much bigger impact in the team.
The 18-year-old started in Celtic’s opening group game at home this season against Fenerbahce in a 2-2 draw, and could be set to start this Thursday against Molde.
Despite being a teenager, his confidence on the ball as well as his awareness and understanding of the game has made him a fan favourite already. With Celtic being his boyhood club, it’s a match made in heaven for both parties.
Reminiscing about that famous night in the Champions League against Barcelona, as per the Daily Express Tierney said:
I was behind the goal, just at the corner when Wanyama scored and started to run over. You would never have thought at that point that I would have played for the club in Europe by now.
It’s what I wanted, but you might not think it will happen. You just need to keep believing and working.
Many fans have called for Ronny Deila to start Tierney on Thursday night rather than Emilio Izaguirre, and the youngster says he will be ready is called upon by Ronny Deila.
I’ll be ready if I’m picked. It is obviously hard with Emilio there because he is a great player. To come in for him is hard. I just need to take my chance if it comes.
