Rogic inspired by talk with Deila

Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic has revealed that a chat with manager Ronny Deila provided him with the confidence he needed to have his best season at the club.

The Australian international has played in 17 games for Celtic this season, netting five times, including a brilliant opening goal at the weekend against Ross County and has created a further three goals for his teammates.

The 22-year-old has suffered from numerous ankle and groin injuries since arriving from Australian side Central Coast Mariners but is now back to full fitness and is starting to have more influence in games for the Hoops.

Speaking about the conversation with Deila, as quoted by the Daily Record, Rogic said:

We sat down and the manager just wanted me to know I had a future at the club and that he wanted to see me come in at pre-season for a fresh start and on par with everyone else in the squad.

That was good for me. For him to give me that confidence and to have a target in my mind of what I wanted to do and achieve at the club.

Despite Celtic being favourites to win the Scottish Premiership title once again, Deila has come in for some criticism after Celtic failed to progress to the group stages of the Champions League and have subsequently failed to impress in the Europa League.

However, Rogic spoke highly of the Norwegian manager:

He has been a great influence and helped me a lot. He’s given me a lot of confidence to go out there and play and enjoy my football and I feel as though I’m in the right environment to do that.
