Kieran Tierney is a product of Ronny Deila’s philosophy, so it’s no surprise he is high of praise for the Norwegian.
Tierney made his debut in April and his first start in August on Flag Day and has continued to grow in stature at the club by the day.
At just 18 years of age, he was the standout player in Celtic’s Europa league tie against Molde, and was also impressive against Aberdeen and Fenerbahce.
He is currently on international duty with Scotland’s Under-19’s and recorded two assists against Latvia. His long-time team-mate and friend, Aidan Nesbitt scored one of the goals in that game.
Yesterday, however, the young Scots couldn’t follow up their impressive result in their first qualifying game for European Championships. Tierney came on after 64 minutes, but couldn’t help his team to victory.

Some of his teammates included captain Jack Breslin, Joe Thomson and Nesbitt are all vying to break into the firs-team and follow Tierney’s footsteps.
And under Deila, Tierney believes that is possible as reported by the Scotsman.
There’s definitely hope for a future. This is a great team that we have and I think the Under-21 squad is good too, with a few people pushing for their first teams.
Against Raith Rovers in the League Cup a few weeks ago it was Aidan Nesbitt and I playing on the left for the last five minutes, just like it has been since we were seven or eight years old.
It’s been brilliant for us to come through the ranks together like that. It’s amazing to think about it. We’ve been great friends throughout that time.
The manager’s shown he will give young players a chance and Joe Thomson has had a taste of it as well. Celtic is definitely the right place for a young player to play, especially when you have a manager like we have.
He’s delighted to give young players a chance and I think that’s a big part of his philosophy, to bring people through.
