Gordon has ‘absolutely no complaints’ about Deila

Celtic ‘keeper Craig Gordon has backed his manager despite recent criticism for falling at the first hurdle in the Europa League.

Ronny Deila’s Bhoys failed to progress past the group stages, taking a step backwards from last year’s appearance against Inter Milan in the last-32.

The exit from European football for another year was confirmed late on Thursday night at Paradise, as the Hoops fell 2-1 at the hands of Dutch league leaders Ajax.

Fans have so often praised an 18-year-old in their own ranks – Kieran Tierney for his performances, but it was an 18-year-old in the away dugout who stole the headlines.

Vaclav Cerny scored the decisive goal that sent Celtic packing after a swift counter-attack from a corner at the opposite end of the field.

Although Gordon was devastated about exiting the Europa League, he believes Deila is doing a good job so far.

As quoted by the Scotsman, the 32-year-old said:

The manager has been fantastic with me. I have absolutely no complaints about him [Deila] whatsoever. He is a good manager.

He is also a young manager and, hopefully we bear that in mind that he has come here and taken a massive step up. Overall I think he’s done pretty well so far.

Gordon also went on to say he believes Celtic are too pleasant and respectful to their opponents.

We are probably a little bit too nice. We let the opposition play and there probably isn’t enough aggression. We didn’t give away a lot of fouls to break the play up.

I think we need a bit more cynicism but there isn’t a lot of experience in the team and hopefully we can add that to our game.
