Celtic boss Ronny Deila has admitted that he is looking to strengthen his Celtic squad, and has been travelling around England to get a closer look at certain players.
As quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times, prior to the 1-1 draw with Fenerbahce in Turkey, Deila spoke about the need to make additions to his squad:
Strengthening the squad is very important. We need players we know we can rely on in certain situations. It is hard to put a number on how many we need. It also depends on what is available.
The 40-year-old spoke about his trip to watch Aston Villa’s Libor Kozak in a recent Under-21 match, and also about his visit to St James’ Park, where he saw Newcastle defeat Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool 2-0.
Although it’s unclear to which player or players he was watching there, Deila made the most of his time off after Celtic’s game against Hamilton Academical was called off due to the weather conditions.
My trip to Birmingham went okay. I was also in Newcastle for the Liverpool game. So it’s nice to have an opportunity to watch other football and get some ideas. I enjoyed those two days.

Deila also spoke about the work that is going on behind the scenes to ensure that the club only brings in players who he describes as the “right type”.
We are looking around to see if we can find the right type of players. We have a lot of scouts so we will make it right come the end.
With January quickly approaching, it will be interesting to see which areas the Norwegian feels he needs to strengthen.
