Signing a new five-year deal at Celtic is a rarity in today’s market, but for Leigh Griffiths it’s a dream come true.
He also has another dream in mind for his next five years in the Hoops jersey – and hopes to join some esteemed company in the clubs history.
Speaking to the Glasgow Evening Times, Griffiths said:
I’d be disappointed in myself at the end of my five-year contract if I hadn’t reached the 100-goal milestone.
If you break that down, it’s only 10 a season which, as a striker, you’d be disappointed if you don’t get that. After I hit the 50 goal mark, I’ll be raring to go for the 100.
Maybe I can get 200 with the way I’m going. But if I keep hitting 20 goals a season I’ll be happy.

The 25-year-old put pen to paper on a new contract that will keep him at the Paradise until the summer of 2021.
Griffiths admitted that he wasn’t drawn by the money rich English teams and is more than happy to continue scoring goals in front of Celtic fans.
The money doesn’t bother me. It is about playing football regularly and enjoying yourself.
Down in England you could go down and earn a lot of money, but you could be sitting on the sidelines or playing reserve team football.
I am happy being here at one of the biggest clubs in Britain. I am playing week in, week out, scoring goals and enjoying myself. I am playing well and making people happy – that is good enough for me.
Griffiths also sees himself as Celtic’s number one striker for years to come, and hopes to join current club captain Scott Brown and many other Celtic greats upon the walls of Paradise.

In his 58 appearances for Celtic since his move from Wolverhampton Wanderers in January 2014, Griffiths has bagged 46 goals and if he can continue his rate of scoring he would surpass Henrik Larsson’s tally of 242 goals.
The striker, who has already 19 goals to his name this season, added:
I see pictures all the time of Larsson, Hartson, Sutton and from more recently of Vennegoor of Hesselink and McDonald. I want to have my picture up on walls like this. When I finally finish my career, hopefully it will be up there.
The Paradise murals at the back and front of the stadium are also fantastic.
I think the last person to get on that wall was Broony so I’m hoping to be next. But I’ve still got a long way to go to do that.
