Leigh Griffiths has warned his Celtic Park teammates telling them that they must be very cautious of the trip to Stair Park.
When the draw was made many fans were concerned about the trip to face Stranraer in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup on Sunday.
Celtic are very aware of how tricky progressing against a smaller team can be and many fans will still recall the defeat to Clyde in 2006.
The 25-year-old Celtic striker scored a late goal in the Glasgow derby giving Ronny Delia his first home win since October and move his side three points clear at the top of the table.
But the Hoops forward now says that the champions can’t dwell on previous matches and have to look ahead.
Speaking to the Celtic FC website, Griffiths said:
It is a potential banana skin fixture, but with the players we have here, we’re more than capable of going there and getting a good result.
It’s about getting through these ties to get to the next round but Stranraer will make it difficult for us. They had people watching the game at the weekend and they’ll think they’ve got a chance, but if we go down there and play the way we can, regardless of the surface, we should be able to win the game.
I feel I’ll be 100 per cent by then. I trained on Sunday then rested the legs and I’ll get a few good training sessions in me then look forward to the game.
The game will kick-off this Sunday (January 10th) at 3.15pm and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports One.
