As he approaches the final year of his contract with Celtic, Stefan Johansen’s long-term future still isn’t clear.
After his performances last season and being crowned the Player of the Year, many fans would gladly have seen him being rewarded with a new contract.
However, the Norwegian hasn’t hit the heights of last season and hasn’t recorded a goal or assist since September in the Scottish League Cup.
Time away from the club after November’s international break to help Johansen refocus hasn’t solved the issue, but Celtic are without captain Scott Brown so his place in the team seems to be safe, for now at least.
Many fans are disgruntled with his lacklustre performances this season, and have called for Ronny Deila to drop his fellow Norwegian on a number of occasions.

As quoted by the Scotsman, the 24-year-old spoke about his future at Celtic and said:
I have no comment about it. You need to speak to my agent. Always in the past, I don’t comment about this.
For me, we are in talks. That’s all I can say and we will take it from there.
Celtic have recently tied up Leigh Griffiths and Nir Bitton to long-term deals and Kieran Tierney signed a new deal at the beginning of the season.
James Forrest is also keen to be rewarded with a new deal in the coming months as his contract runs out in June.
The 24-year-old winger came through the academy at Celtic and has showed flashes of brilliance during his injury stricken career.
