Celtic have agreed a deal in principal with Dundee United to take Anthony Stokes on a loan until the end of the season according to BBC Sport.
The Irishman is now free to decide whether or not he would like make the switch to Tayside or hold out for a potential move to another club.
The striker who has been frozen out this season, has yet to break through into the starting XI having been limited to just two appearances this campaign.
Having had interest from Scottish Cup holders Inverness and Championship Hibs, Stokes is vastly becoming an important target for many sides across Scotland.
And though Dundee United have reached an agreement, manager Mixu Paatelainen believes his side may not be favourites to sign him and has spoke to Stokes.
The 27-year-old’s contract expires at the end of next season and manager Ronny Deila is keen for him to go out on loan, in order to find first-team football elsewhere.
