Celtic miss out on Danish winger Falk

Celtic have missed out on one of their transfer window targets Rasmus Falk as FC Copenhagen swept in to secure a move.

The 24-year-old Danish international’s contract expires in the summer there were reports that he would be available for as little as £150,000.

Now Danish media site BT said he will remain in his home nation and sign for FC Copenhagen, on a reported 4-year deal in the summer.

Falk came out and said that he would leave his current club at the end of his contract in search of a new challenge in a statement released by his agent.

This put a number of club’s on alert who’ve been watching his development for a number of years including Copenhagen, Brondby and FC Midtylland in the Danish Superliga.

Celtic were thought to be in talks for the Danish international for several days before this statement, but have now missed out.

The Danish winger came through the youth academy at OB Odense, and has been steadily coming to prominence representing his country at Under-21 and senior level.

His only appearance to date for the senior national side came against Malta during Denmark’s World Cup qualification back in 2013.

Since his debut in 2010, he has made 149 appearances, scoring 25 times and adding 26 assists – and made 20 appearances so far this season, scoring three goals and assisting on nine occasions.
