All aboard the Deila Bus

Celtic fans young and old now have a platform to voice their opinions via Twitter, Facebook etc and don’t they do just that.

The amount of change the club has seen in my time is crazy. On the brink in 94′, to Wim the Tim coming in 97′, to stop Rangers getting 10 in a row and with that bringing in the one and only Henrik Larsson. Then Martin O’Neill taking us on one hell of a European adventure resulting in an agonizing defeat in the heat of Seville 03′. Also, who could forget the death of the enemy in 2012.

This leads me onto the current regime, ladies and gentleman – Ronny’s Revolution. Bringing in an unknown Norwegian manager who was originally meant to be the assistant manager to Neil Lennon didn’t go down too well with us fans.

Nonetheless, we do what we do best as Celtic fans and we got behind him. Any new manager must be given a decent length of time in a job to make an impact unless he has a bottomless pit of money or even a war chest some might say (isn’t that right the Daily Record?)

Lets look at the bigger picture, the board are not going to pump money into the club to fail in Europe right now whilst there are no serious challengers for the league title. They will reinvest what they need to win the league and that’s it. This was evident with the choice of manager. Now I’m a member and aboard the Deila Bus, so please don’t think I’m implying he’s not up to the job. I just think that we need to become more realistic to the current climate.

This January I’ve watched from afar and in awe of some of the opinions been aired. We are all entitled to them but doesn’t mean that they’re not mental.

In the first few days we were doomed as no one was linked to us. Then Kristoffer Ajer popped on a plane for a weeks trial. Things are looking up. He left after a successful week but then its all went quiet on that front? Ronny says he’s interested but nothing’s been done about it? With only nine days left of the window time looks to be against us for this one.

Then came big suave Erik Sviatchenko. We were linked with him before but to be fair it did come a bit out of the blue. Cracking signing none the less if his attributes on Football Manager are anything to go by. This sends the fans into rapture.

The usual suspect Steven Fletcher is lurking in the wings again like every other transfer window but the difference is this time he only has six months left on his contract at Sunderland. Then news breaks of interest from China for him then all of a sudden the fans are moaning that we can’t compete with wages. Hard to find the balance for the status quo here.

We have taken another player on trial Ljuban Crepulja (a Messi lookalike) and I have to admit I know nothing about this player however, the general consensus is, why do a side as big as ourselves need to keep taking players on trial? Surely with scouting system we’ve got in place we should be confident in signing players.

The other two players Rasmus Falk and Moi Elyounoussi, two wingers. Falk signed with Copenhagen and that chat on Elyounoussi has gone quiet. By losing out on Falk, some people were jumping back on the doomed bandwagon.

But wait? What happens next? Ronny’s Bhoys go out and destroy Hamilton 8-1 and everyone’s happy again? Well, almost.

A convincing 3-1 win against St Johnstone today has just about everyone feeling sprite again, still not convinced?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Deila’s time at Celtic has been an emotional roller coaster for all involved.

So who knows what the next week or so will bring. All I know is a big performance is expected next weekend against Ross County to get closer to part one of three.

Every player says they’re on a high and confidence is flowing, let’s hope that spreads throughout the fans.

My final words on this are – all aboard the Deila Bus. Next stop, the domestic treble.
