A confident performance from the Bhoys this weekend sees the goal tally soar to 19 for the month of January with one game to spare. A very good return for a side who only play with one up front.
So you could be forgiven to think that adding another attacking player to the ranks may be unnecessary. Well no one seemed to tell Peter Lawwell that.
Last night seen us linked with signing 18-year-old winger Patrick Roberts from Man City on loan for the next six-months. But why?
Rumour has it Celtic want him for 18-months but the Premier League side are reluctant to meet our demands.
What benefit does this bring to a squad which is being sculpted for Europe come next August?
Before Roberts signed for Manchester City last summer from Fulham for a fee around £12 million, we were linked with him but as normal when an English team comes in for any player, they throw cash at a player which then dwarfs any chances we have of signing the player.
Roberts was one of the highlights of the highly rated FA Youth Cup in 2014, which attracted the attention of the likes of his current team, along with Chelsea and Manchester United.

But like many young players these days, he went to City and hasn’t done much since and has been restricted to only three first team appearances this season.
The rumour, as reported by Sky Sports is that it will only be a six-month deal with no clause for a permanent move or anything.
After a very promising signing of Erik Sviatchenko, this just does not make any sense.
There is no doubting the players talent but this does not represent any value to the currents side future.
Once again the Twitterati are out in force to voice their displeasure over the potential signing.
Nonetheless, this deal looks like it’s happening, and it sends a very different message from the signing of Sviatchenko.
