Kristoffer Ajer has admitted that he’s still keen to move to Celtic despite a January move failing to materialise.
The 17-year-old, who has captained his current club IK Start, spent a week on trial at Celtic and was scouted by Paris Saint-Germain on at least four occasions this season.
Ajer made the move from Lillestrom SK in 2014 and has gone on to impress a host of European clubs who are keeping tabs on him including Roma, Liverpool and Arsenal.
Serie A side Roma also submitted a €2 million bid for the 6’5 midfielder last season after a successful trial, but Start rejected the bid.
His current contract runs out at the end of this year and a summer move to Celtic is still on his mind despite the two clubs being unable to agree on certain terms.
As quoted by the Daily Record, he said:
A move to Celtic would have been good but I’m happy here.
At least I know the two clubs were talking. It’s good I don’t have to think about this for a few months.
I admit there have been training sessions where I’ve been thinking about the move to Celtic a lot.
With talk of the youngster being in the same bracket as Real Madrid player Martin Odegaard, Celtic fans will hope they don’t miss out on him.
