Ronny Deila has called for his team to make history this season and join an elite group of players in Celtic’s history.
Charlie Mulgrew, Scott Brown, Kris Commons, James Forrest Mikael Lustig and Emilio Izaguirre all have the chance to win a fifth league title in a row for Celtic and join and elite group of players in the club’s history.
They would join players from Willy Maley and Jock Stein’s teams to win five-in-a-row and could yet even chase down Steins famous nine-in-a-row record.
Deila is currently on course for back-to-back league titles as Celtic sit six points clear of Aberdeen with 11 games remaining.
As quoted by Celtic’s official website, Deila spoke about the possibility of winning a fifth successive title for the Hoops, saying:
Some of the players here have the possibility to win five times in a row and that’s not happened many times in the history of Celtic so it’s an opportunity to make history. I know the players really want that.
We need to just keep on winning football games and if Aberdeen keep on winning then it’s going to be close the whole way in. The only thing we can do something with is to win games.

In the end it’s about quality. Quality is a lot of things. You need to be good in many aspects in football. This club is used to winning trophies and having pressure all the time and a lot of the players have been here for a long while.
Celtic have scored 98 goals this season but the early exit from Europe and an embarrassing defeat to Ross County has seen the fans turn on Deila and want him out of the club.
With all the talk of a title race this season with Aberdeen, Deila has remained calm despite the fans unrest about the quality of football on display and the consistency amongst the players.
I don’t expect anything. I found out in football that you just have to try to do your job.
We lost two points at the weekend and are disappointed by that but it’s good that we’re still in a good situation and we’re looking forward to the game on Wednesday.
We lost against Aberdeen in September and people said we would lose the league because of that, but I said to wait until April and we can say if it’s a title race or not.
Celtic will welcome Dundee to Paradise on Wednesday night and will be expected to win comfortably and maintain their charge for a fifth successive league title.
