Celtic manager Ronny Deila says that Leigh Griffiths won’t be happy if he wins the top scorer award in the Scottish Premiership and fails to win the title.
The Hoops are currently one point clear of second-placed Aberdeen, although they do still have a game in hand, but most people expected the Glasgow-based side would be further ahead at this stage.
Celtic have scored 70 league goals this season, 25 of those have been scored by the 25-year-old, who looks certain to win the award for most goals in the top flight.
But Deila told the Glasgow Evening Times that the striker will not take any satisfaction from the accolade unless he gets league winners’ medal to go with it.
He said:
Leigh has had a great season but I know that he won’t think that way unless we win the league. Without the title, goals mean nothing.

Deila also insisted that his players understand that individual awards are nowhere near as important as success for the whole team, which is why they will be doing all they can to secure a league title.
It is the same with any success that you have as an individual. It is not about what you can achieve as one but what we can do together. We all know that. That is why these remains few months are so important for us.
Celtic are in action on Saturday in the Glasgow Derby and will look to move four points clear of Aberdeen who closed the gap to one in mid-week with a win over Partick Thistle.
