Ronny Deila has clarified the situation regarding the speculation over the future of a wanted midfielder in England.

Nir Bitton has been linked with a move to Arsenal but signed a new  long-term deal with the club until 2020, diminishing the speculation surrounding his future.

Deila clarified that the midfielder will stay at Celtic despite the rumours and temptation of the money in England.

As quoted by CelticTV, he said:

He’s going to stay here, he signed a new contract. He wants to stay here for more years and he’s going to be an important player for Celtic.

The 24-year-old joined Celtic in August 2013 from FC Ashdod and made his debut in a substitute appearance away to AC Milan in the Champions League.

Since then, Bitton has grown in leaps and bounds as a player and has gone on to make 100 appearances for the Hoops since – scoring 11 goals in that period – which included some stunning long range efforts.

When Ronny Deila walked in the summer of 2014, the pair didn’t see eye-to-eye as the midfielder struggled to hold down a regular place in the team.

Bitton took on board the advice of the Norwegian and prevented him from leaving the club, which has led to his development as a player and leader on the field for Celtic.

He has also become a regular in his national side and scored his first international goal back in September against Andorra in a 4-0 win.
