Aidan Nesbitt isn’t concerned about the number of midfielders Celtic have and vows to earn his place in the first-team.
Ronny Deila’s side is stacked with midfielders at the moment and more are due to return from their loan spells in the summer – including Nesbitt.
Speaking to the Daily Record however, the 19-year-old is relishing the challenge at the Jags and is looking forward to returning to Celtic in the summer.
He said:
The manager at Celtic just told me to go to Partick and work hard, play games and show confidence.
I’ve got a new deal at Celtic so when I go back next season or the one after, it’ll be about trying to get into the team.
People say Celtic have signed so many players in my position. But they’ve signed me as well – I’m one of those players.
Maybe because I’m a youth player, it’s not as big a deal. But I’ve still got another three and a half years to impress.

Nesbitt has struggled to find his feet at Partick Thistle as he makes the leap from development league football to first-team football at Celtic’s Glasgow rivals.
The youngster was an unused substitute at the weekend and hasn’t featured for Thistle since an 11-minute appearance off the bench against Hearts but feels he is still learning despite not playing as regularly as he hoped.
I feel that with a bit more development, getting a big bigger, then I’m more than capable in the next few years of getting into the Celtic team.
It’s been a good experience for me, better than the Development League with Celtic. The physicality of the Premiership is the biggest difference.
Even when I’m sitting on the bench, I feel I need to be ready.
The 19-year-old found his feet as a striker for the development squad and in the UEFA Youth League but his size will likely see him drop back into an attacking midfield role, creating a dilemma.
Two midfielders currently vying for a game are Scott Allan and Ryan Christie who were added to the Celtic ranks in the summer, although Christie returned to his parent club Inverness until he sustained a knee injury in November.
And with Nesbitt and Liam Henderson amongst a number of players returning to the club and Kristoffer Ajer joining in the summer, the first-team chances may be limited further.
