Scotland assistant manager Stuart McCall has revealed Kieran Tierney almost took him out in training as they prepare for the final friendly of the international break.
The 18-year-old received his first Scotland call-up and could earn his first cap tomorrow night (Tuesday) against Denmark at Hampden Park.
McCall has hailed the young defender for his will to win the ball back in a tackle and even revealed the Celtic academy graduate almost took him out in training.
As quoted by the Scotsman, he said:
A pass got left short and I thought he was going to top me because he [Tierney] came steaming in. He likes a tackle. He’s not over-confident and arrogant, not at all, but he has belief, he wants the ball and he has been telling Grant Hanley to give him the ball. That is good.

Tierney also drew comparisons to Celtic skipper Scott Brown from McCall, who also adopts a no-nonsense approach.
I could tell he was the son of Broony. He had his shirt sleeves rolled up while everyone else was freezing. He is definitely styling his clothing on his captain.
After going off injured in the first-half of Celtic’s 1-0 win over Kilmarnock with an ankle injury, there were fears he may miss out on his chance to represent his country, however it wasn’t as serious as first feared.
Tierney has made 25 starts this season for Celtic including four in the Europa League for his boyhood club catching the eyes of fans as a future star.
Having come through the ranks at Celtic he broke into the first-team and hasn’t looked back since his first start against Ross County on Flag Day.
Celtic will be in action again this Saturday afternoon as Celtic take on Hearts at Paradise as Tierney will hope to be involved from the start once again.
