Scott Brown has offered an alternative to ‘laughing stock’ Hampden Park pitch following Tuesday’s game against Denmark.
The Celtic and Scotland captain lamented the state of the national stadium’s surface, which is home to Queens Park and is worried that nothing is being done to repair the surface.
Celtic will look to keep their hopes of a league and cup double when they travel to Hampden Park in just over a fortnight’s time, but Brown is concerned by the surface.
As quoted by the Daily Mail, the 30-year-old said:
Sometimes we’re a laughing stock when it comes to that. It’s part and parcel of the game these days. We can’t keep it in great nick all season round because of the weather up here as well. We’ve got to take that on board. But it should be a lot better than it is.
Murrayfield is exceptional, so much better than that. It’s flat and nice. When we played on that in the qualifiers it was unbelievable, one of the best pitches I’ve ever played on.

Scott Brown captained Scotland to their second victory in a week against Denmark with a solitary goal from Matt Ritchie enough to give them the win.
Despite the concerns about the pitch, it isn’t as bad as last year when Celtic met Rangers for the first time ever in the League Cup semi-final.
The Hoops comfortably dispatched the inferior opposition on one of the worst surfaces for a major cup game at the national stadium in recent memory.
It [the pitch] probably won’t be the best but you just accept that every time you come here. You think of the worst and, if we played on what we did against Rangers last year [in the League Cup semi-final], you can play on anything.
Celtic will play in the Scottish Cup semi-final on Sunday April 17th against Championship side Rangers, in their first ever meeting in the competition.
