A brace from Leigh Griffiths moved Celtic eight points clear and within touching distance of a fifth successive league title.
Celtic dominated the game and it could have been three or four nil by half-time if it wasn’t for Conor Ripley and some poor finishing.
Patrick Roberts, Nir Bitton and Kieran Tierney all tested the ‘keeper who made a number of saves to keep Celtic at bay.
Griffiths also had a number of chances in the first half including a penalty which Roberts won, but the striker dragged his effort well wide of the target.
For a brief moment, it felt like it could come back to haunt him, but he atoned for his miss on 44 minutes from Tierney’s pull back.
Motherwell equalised through Scott McDonald on 61 minutes after a mistake from Tierney as the bounce of the ball took it away from him.
On 75 minutes Celtic went ahead again through Griffiths as Ripley failed to hold onto the ball and it ran through his legs.
