Celtic were knocked out of the Scottish Cup after losing out on penalties in an enthralling encounter.

Tom Rogic levelled the game in extra-time for Celtic after a stunning strike from Rangers.

Celtic struggled to get to grips with the game in the opening 45 minutes as Rangers played some lovely football.

They went ahead on 16 minutes after Kenny Miller pounced on a poor attempt to intercept the ball by Scott Brown as he lashed the ball home from eight-yards.

Patrick Roberts should have levelled the scoring after the half-hour mark following Griffiths’ rebounded shot off the post, but with the goal glaring, the youngster could only hit the side-netting.

He provided the only attacking spark for Celtic as midfield were non-existent in both defence and attack in the game.

Erik Sviatchenko headed home the equaliser for the Hoops after firing a bullet header into the top left corner.

With the game in extra time, Barry McKay’s long-range effort was cancelled out by Rogic’s goal less than a minute into the second half of extra-time.
