Ronny Deila has revealed he is leaving Celtic because of a lack of improvement over recent months in the squad.
The Hoops remain eight points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership, but Deila says there haven’t been the strides forward that the club needs in the last six months.
Speaking at the club’s Lennoxtown training base, as quoted by the Scotsman, Deila said:
I have been thinking about this for a while because I haven’t felt the team has got the results they should have and, maybe more importantly, the performance and improvement I wanted.
When I came into the job I talked about improving the team and playing attractive football and I think the last six months we haven’t had the improvement that we need.
The Norweigan manager then explained why he thought that improvement hadn’t come about under his tutelage and his reaction to the lack of progress.
One of the reasons we haven’t had that improvement is because of the pressure and speculation around me all the time. I have no problem dealing with that, I have been sitting in this room a lot of times and there has been a lot of difficult questions.

Now that the announcement has been made, Deila is hoping his side can continue on and take their fifth title in a row without any slip-up.
I think it is best for the club that new energy is coming into the club next season and now we can really focus on winning the five games and getting five (titles) in a row. It is going to be a huge thing for me, the players and the whole club, this is why the decision has been made.
After being knocked out of the cup last Sunday to Rangers, there remains just one competition in focus for the club.
Ross County are the visitors at Paradise on Sunday, as the Hoops look to edge closer to a fifth successive league title and give Deila the perfect send off.
