Lisbon Lion Bertie Auld has called for both Martin O’Neill and Roy Keane to take over the management set-up in the summer.
The current Celtic manager Ronny Deila will be leaving the club at the end of the season after he confirmed the news last week amid speculation over his future.
It is yet to be decided as to who the replacement will be, but Auld would like to see O’Neill and Keane take the reigns, both of whom have been at the club previously.
The pair are currently working together at the moment for Ireland and have qualified for the European Championships this summer in France, showing they could work together and possibly be successful at Celtic.
Speaking to the Scotsman, Auld said:
I think Celtic should appoint Martin O’Neill only on the understanding that Roy Keane would come with him because you need that balance. And I’m telling you straight Dermot Desmond must unlock the purse.
Don’t bring in an apprentice to do a man’s job and, unfortunately, that’s happened two or three times at Celtic Park.
The fans getting unhappy
is not something that has
happened overnight. They don’t have that in their make-up. They have been brought up throughout the history of club on entertaining players.

What we need is a strict person to come in. I think Keane is the right one because he won’t take any nonsense and having Martin back first and foremost he would run things from the top of the house.
I know they are going to the Euros with Ireland and there are qualifiers in July, but every team has to deal with that. I only hope they get it right.
The Lisbon Lion was managed by Celtic’s greatest manager ever, Jock Stein, who managed the Hoops for 13 years during the greatest period in their history.
In that time, he guided Celtic to the European Cup, becoming the first team to win a treble in Europe having also won the prestigious trophy and also won nine league titles in a row.
Auld was tempted back to Celtic in 1965 from Birmingham City by Stein and became a figurehead in the team spending over 12 years at the club during his two spells.
NO! NO! NO! it won’t work.
Roy Keane has already stated he wants to be his own man
We’re doomed if thats the choice.
