Brown: Andy Walker does my f***ing box in

Scott Brown called an end to his season and hit out at former Celtic player Andy Walker for his criticism of the team this season.

The captain blasted the Sky Sports pundit after he was part of the Hoops team at the weekend that all but secured five-in-a-row for just the third time in Celtic’s history.

Over the coming weeks, the 30-year-old will focus on regaining his fitness after a poor run of form since returning from knee surgery in February.

Brown is struggling with tendonitis in both of his hamstrings, meaning the summer break can’t come quick enough to recuperate and prepare for the Champions League qualifiers in the late summer.

As quoted by the Telegraph, he said:

Andy Walker is one that goes out there and does it but he’s never had a manager’s job or knows what it’s like to be coming in here day in, day out.

He’s pretty much a poor man’s Gary Neville. It’s every day. He does my f—ing box in.

You can only beat the teams that are in front of you and yet again we’ve done that but we’ve been criticized all season and we take that on the chin.

Anybody could do that but he walks out the tunnel and doesn’t even look in anyone’s eyes and puts his head down, so he obviously knows he’s done something wrong.

At the end of the day, who cares? It’s only him. It’s five in a row and we are the ones who are laughing.

Celtic all but secured a fifth successive league title on Saturday afternoon after they beat Hearts 3-1 at Tynecastle.

Deila secured his second title and will now bow out of the club with three celebratory fixtures to end a two-year spell in charge at the club.

Their nearest challengers, Aberdeen, will now need a miracle to overturn a goal difference deficit of 35 and hope Deila’s side capitulate in their remaining three games.

The two sides will meet at Paradise next Sunday, and in a party-like atmosphere, many of the Celtic players will now be able to express themselves more freely with the title all but won.

And with Brown set to sit out the remaining three games, it could give a fringe player a chance to shine.
