Ronny Deila has revealed why Scott Allan has been struggling to break into the Celtic first-team this season.
The Norwegian manager will bow out of Paradise next weekend with his second consecutive league title and Celtic’s fifth in a row.
With a plethora of midfielders at his disposal, Deila has chosen multiple players over the 24-year-old, who has made just 16 appearances in his first season in the Hoops jersey.
As quoted by the Telegraph, Deila said:
Scott Allan has trained well, He has talent. He maybe didn’t suit the style I want to play but he can get in the team if it’s another style.
A lot of players go for half a year and don’t play a lot. It’s a big step going from Hibs to Celtic, but he works hard. He is a good guy in the environment and I know he has developed this year.

Following a move back to Scottish side Hibernian on a free transfer, Allan moved to Celtic last summer for a fee of around £250,000 after making 43 appearances for the Edinburgh side.
Celtic fans have repeatedly called for Allan to start for the first-team, however, his chance at Celtic hasn’t materialised under Ronny Deila.
With two games remaining in the season, he could be given a chance by the outgoing manager to show fans what to possibly expect next season under a new manager.
Ronny Deila leaves nothing on the field. He is strong enough to make it clear to the fans that he has a game-plan. I can understand why Scott Allan and Ryan Christie do not play regularly in the first team. I am certain that both players understand that too. When having to “rotate” a massive squad, Celtic have lost some games and dropped some points when the opposition seemed to think Ronny had not sent out his strongest side. PRIDE drives the opposition. Every Celtic match is Cup Final to them. It was for John Collins and John Kennedy to clue in the manager concerning the rivalries and the love or hatred of Celtic. There are players at the club who have been given chances and have been abysmal. There are others who seemingly have not been given a chance. It he was six inches taller and a powerhouse in the air, I would play Scott Allan ahead of Efe Ambrose in defence. Efe just gets it wrong, and again of Sunday, he got it wrong.Three or four from fourteen is never an easy task. Rogic stepped up, McGregor stepped up, Roberts stepped up. Christie and Allan are class acts. In another system, Ronny suggests, they could make a big impression. Which of the two would play ahead of talisman Kris Commons? Who would, could or should replace Richards, Cole and or Stokes, who did not step up like Leigh Griffiths did when told to get real socially. There could be sixty thousand Celtic fans gladly singing the news, or thousands moaning like Rangers just bought the club and all our ways.
Robert Hutton.
You sound very much like a sevconian.First rangers don’t exist they were liquidated.second Deila has a habit of playing players out of position, and in some cases actually ruining them.Thirdly why o why did he sign or allow to be signed 5 midfield players when we already had 8 at Celtic. What other team in the world has,13 midfield players,10 defenders, and 3 strikers two of whom would’nt make good championship material. Then we have 9 players out on loan a mixture of midfield, defenders, and strikers, thats a total of 35 first team players. Why with enough first team players to field three teams did we get knocked out of cups…the answer in two words Ronny Deila.HH
