Kris Commons has gone under the knife to resolve an ongoing injury following Celtic’s fifth successive title celebrations.
The experienced midfielder hasn’t featured since a cameo appearance against Hearts at the end of April.
He posted on Instagram an update on his condition after some fans were left bemused by his omission from the match day team.

Commons was instrumental for the Hoops when he arrived from Derby in 2011, and scored 31 goals in 48 appearances under Neil Lennon in the season before Ronny Deila arrived.
However, since the Norwegian’s arrival, Commons hasn’t bought into his philosophy and resulting in him being left out of the team in the opening months of last season.
After battling his way back into the team following an injury, Commons provided goals and assists from midfield time and time again, but always lacked the work-rate necessary to fit into Deila’s team on a regular basis.

Making a total of 79 appearances over the last two seasons, Commons has been fighting to keep fit and will hope to remain in Celtic’s plans next season.
At 32-years-old, Commons could make way this summer with just 12-months remaining on his current contract with a new manager due to be announced at Paradise.
Commons is an essential attacking option for the Bhoys. His absence in a number of key games towards the end of the season, including the game against Rangers, was obvious, whether is it was through injury or not being selected. Celtic don’t play well without him. He is by far our most dangerous attacking option coming from midfield and is ‘link-up’ play with Griffiths is excellent. I wish him a speedy recovery.

Islandbhoy is correct Commons must be an integral part of our plans next season Rogic McGregor Roberts will all gain from working and being around this man
Totally agree Ahoys, even an unfit commons could still pull a goal out of nothing and with Griffiths our only other option at present with that skill its essential we keep Chris as long as we can.
Seven goals from seven different players shows Celtic have more than the Leigh Griffiths option. Take a load off Bhoys, score for fun and do NOT take the foot off the gas for anyone. I too love the Commons touch. He has something very different and we have all watched him at work.
