Ambrose wanted by Fenerbahce

Efe Ambrose is being targeted by Fenerbahce, whom Celtic faced in the Europa League group stages last year.

The 27-year-old Nigerian international is being targeted by the Turkish side according to the Sunday Post, who say the Istanbul giants are showing interest for the versatile defender.

His high-profile error against Fenerbahce in October when Celtic were leading 2-0 was one of a number of errors on his behalf over the last four years, and unfortunately for Ambrose, some of his impressive outings which followed were always overshadowed by these lapses in concentration.

Ambrose has 12-months left on his current contract at Celtic and has endured a rough time from Hoops fans and opposing fans during games.

Celtic have previously turned down interest from Olympiakos and Maccabi Tel Aviv, but could be set to off-load the unpredictable defender following the announcement that Brendan Rodgers will take over this summer.

A number of on-field errors have cost Celtic dearly in big games in Europe and domestically over the years since he arrived at the club in 2012.

Ambrose has made 167 appearances for Celtic, scoring six goals and providing 10 assists – and could have played his last game in a Hoops jersey in the 7-0 hammering of Motherwell on Trophy Day.

With Stefan Scepovic and Carlton Cole already off the books, Ambrose could be one of a number of players exiting Paradise this summer to pave the way for new signings.
