Brendan Rodgers is looking to boost his defensive options by triggering the release clause of 27-year-old Wales and Reading defender, Chris Gunter.
Gunter has thus far been impressive for Wales in Euro 2016 and his release clause is rumoured to be just £1million.

According to The Daily Mail, Rodgers has been impressed with Gunter’s performances in France and has also heard good reports from Chris Davis, who left Reading to join Celtic in May.
Rodgers is eager to add quality at right-back and apparently feels that Gunter is the man for the job, given his considerable experience and also his relatively cheap price tag.
Gunter has, so far, amassed a whopping 72 caps for the Welsh national team and has been one of Chris Coleman’s stand out players in France, keeping Eden Hazard very quiet in the quarter-final.

The defender has also proved himself to be a capable attacking threat as his perfectly weighted ball allowed Sam Vokes to head in Wales’ third goal against Belgium.
There is no doubt that Gunter has the potential to be a steal at only £1 million.
