Celtic will go into Wednesday’s League Cup tie without three first-team players who all miss out through suspension.
Brendan Rodgers latest signing Scott Sinclair scored nine minutes from time to give the Hoops all three points on the opening weekend of the season.
Now they turn their attention to the Cup they failed to retain last season following their loss in last year’s semi-final to Ross County.
The Hoops won three of the four games last season against The Steelmen, including a 7-0 win at Paradise in the final game of Ronny Deila’s tenure at the club.
Celtic
Leigh Griffiths, Efe Ambrose and Stefan Johansen are all suspended and will miss Wednesday evening’s clash with Motherwell.
Kieran Tierney has a shoulder injury and Kolo Toure is being monitored after playing his first 90-minute game in four months.
Erik Sviatchenko, Nir Bitton Kris Commons and Gary Mackay-Steven have all returned to training but won’t be fit enough to be involved.
Patrick Roberts remains out with a hamstring injury and will be in a race against time to be fit for next week’s Champions League play-off first leg.
Dedryck Boyata is also out with a hamstring injury but could feature this weekend against inter Milan.
Jozo Simunovic is still recovering from knee surgery that he underwent in March and has returned to light training but is still short of match fitness.
Youngster Aidan Nesbitt has joined Morton on a six-month loan.
Motherwell
Captain Keith Lasley returns to the squad after serving his suspension.
Carl McHugh could miss the Cup game after suffering a nasty head wound at the weekend against Kilmarnock.
Strikers Louis Moult and Jacob Blyth remain unavailable due to injury.
Does anyone agree that it is madness to be playing Inter Milan when the season is up and running? I would rather be playing Partick Thistle with the chance of putting another three points on the board. We are risking even more injuries before a vital Euro qualifier.
I agree with you Anthony 100% just hope it’s the younger BHOYS that get a chance to experience the Inter match because this is just not the time for any more injuries wee Paddy gonna be a big loss in 1st leg but would still play a strong team tomorrow night to keep confidence and morale at tip top just can’t get enough
